Annual General Meeting of SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES Successfully Completed
June 06, 2013
  • Shareholders vote in favor of all items on the agenda
  • Cautiously optimistic for 2013

Kahl am Main, June 6, 2013 - Today’s ordinary Annual General Meeting of the SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG was successfully completed. The about xx shareholders, who took up the invitation of the company to join the meeting at the Auditorium of the Commerzbank in Frankfurt am Main, voted with overwhelming majority in favor of the items on the agenda. Mrs. Christine Kreidl was elected with about 99 % majority as Member of the Supervisory Board.

In his speech Dr.-Ing. Stefan Rinck, Chief Executive Officer of the SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG, elaborated on the course of business in 2012 and in the 1st quarter 2013 as well as on the developments in the individual core work areas Optical Disc, Semiconductor and Solar and provided an outlook for the current business year.

In view of the difficult market situation in the past couple of years, Dr.-Ing. Stefan Rinck made cautiously optimistic remarks about 2013: “The expected, slightly positive operating result is, of course, very heavily affected by the successful developments in our three segments. For our forecasts we expect a very sharp increase in sales in the Solar division and a slight rise in sales in the segments Optical Disc and Semiconductor".

Dr. Rinck added: “In terms of volume sales of our Blu-ray machines in the current year, we are very optimistic to reach the set goals. In the meantime we have signed letters of intent for the sale of larger volumes with our three most important customers. Successful movies such as “Skyfall” and “Harry Potter”, which were recently shown at the box office, as well as new gaming consoles will have a positive impact on sales. The orders have already partially been received or are expected for the next couple of weeks.  Also in the Semiconductor division we are in talks with our customers, who already own some of our machines, for further investments.

In the Solar market we are cooperating with several customers in large projects in America, Asia and in particular South Africa, the country with the world’s highest solar radiation. However, if the still current investment restraint for production equipment in the solar market continues, this might possibly not take place without corresponding impacts on the earnings targets of the company.”

To strengthen the existing business areas, SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES specifically develops new products and machines. With this, the company will also open new areas of application in the long-term. This means that in 2013 SINGULUS will primarily focus on the further strategic development of the existing product portfolio. With the successful implementation of this strategy SINGULUS expects to return to a growth path.

SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES develops innovative technologies for efficient production processes, which only make use of resources conservatively. New production technology combined with sustainable processes and the use of novel materials can decouple the use of resources from economic growth in the long-term. SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES’ innovative power and competitiveness are strengthened by these new technologic developments.

With its Optical Disc segment SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES is the market leader for CD, DVD and Blu-ray Disc production equipment. As the only engineering company worldwide SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES today already provides the machine technology for three-layer Blu-ray Discs with a storage volume of about 100 GB.

In the Solar division SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES is a recognized supplier for new machines concepts and production processes for crystalline and thin-film solar cells, which increase the efficiency of solar cells and reduce their production costs. SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES establishes itself as a development partner and machine supplier for technologies enabling a sustainable energy provision on the basis of renewable energies.

In the Semiconductor segment SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES focuses its activities on the vacuum coating of wafers with ultra thin layers for the production of MRAM memory, thin-film write/read heads and other semiconductor applications.

SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES continues to expand its know-how in vacuum coating, the automation and process technology as well as the integration of manufacturing lines in order to develop new work areas. To strengthen the existing business activities SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES is currently reviewing concrete acquisition opportunities.

New application areas for vacuum deposition technology are the focus of the further development.
